Slings help protect highly finished parts and delicate equipment from damage. Their stretch and flexibility help them mold to the shape of the load, gripping securely while cushioning and absorbing shock far better than wire rope or chain. They are lightweight and very easy to handle. Synthetic slings are unaffected by grease, oil, moisture and many chemicals. Nylon is used where alkaline conditions exist. They are non-sparking, non-conductive and can be used safely in explosive atmospheres. They should be protected from sharp edges, sharp projections and heat sources such as steam pipes, open flame and welding splatter.
